Our race equality network
Our race equality network (REN) tackles issues faced by staff from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

The network challenges discrimination and underrepresentation, as well as providing a safe space for staff to connect and be supported.

What was the main highlight for REN in 2022?
We attended an anti-racism workshop with our executive team delivered by Yvonne Coghill, director, workforce race equality, NHS London. It was encouraging to see all members of our executive team engaged in this agenda.
Is there anything else you feel particularly proud of?
REN hosted a panel session during Islamophobia Awareness Month. It was very emotional hearing our colleagues’ experiences of islamophobia. We are proud that REN members now feel comfortable and safe to share their experiences, in the hope that others can learn from this and identify unfairness wherever and whenever it occurs.
What are your ambitions for 2023?
We would like race equality to continue being a priority area of focus. We would like NICE to adopt a systematic approach to tackling race inequalities by drafting a long term race action plan outlining measures we need to take to improve the representation of ethnic minorities at all levels in our organisation, declaring our commitment to become an anti-racist organisation and pledging zero tolerance to racism.
